The update | Ailey II Dance Troupe at YSU; Ski chalet to unveil the snowboard

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ailey II, a modern dance troupe, will come to the Ford Theater at Youngstown State University at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 17.

The performance is part of the Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts series at YSU. The Ford Theater is on the lower level of Bliss Hall on Wick Avenue.

Founded in 1974 by Alvin Ailey and led by Francesca Harper, the 12-member Ailey II brings spirit and energy to the scene.

“The dancers are spectacular performers with flawless technique who perform cutting-edge choreography with extraordinary beauty,” said Phyllis Paul, Dean of Cliffe College of Creative Arts at YSU.

Adult tickets are $35. Special rate tickets are $25 for non-YSU students, YSU faculty and staff with valid ID, YSU alumni, seniors, Penguin Club members, and groups of eight or more. A ski lodge will unveil snowboarding in Penguin City

“Our vision for this design is a nod to Steel Valley and the leading manufacturers that have helped shape our hometown,” said Ashley Hoff, Director of The Ski Chalet. “One of the focal points of our board depicts the old Republic Steel in full bloom where our father/grandfather, Gene Hoff, was superintendent until the day it closed.”

Three upcoming Tribute Band shows at Robins

Taste of the City Event Returns

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The 19th annual Taste of the Town event, featuring dishes from top restaurants and caterers in Lawrence County, will be held Monday, October 24 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the New Englander Banquet Center.

Preston Auto Group is the sponsor of this event.

Culinary students from the Lawrence County Career & Technical Center, along with local high school students, will assist restaurants and have the opportunity to showcase their culinary training skills.
Proceeds will support over 40 United Way of Lawrence County programs. Door prizes will include gift certificates and donated items from local restaurants and businesses.
