Cape Town – A dance team from Retreat, known as the Royal Rebels, amazed their community by qualifying to represent South Africa at the 2021 FISAF International World Championships in Agen, France next month.

Group manager Gio Fisher, who has been dancing for over 35 years and has led and coached the team for six years, said she believed the girls would do well in championships and inspire other dance teams to do so. the same.

“The girls are living their dream and doing something that has never been done before in our studio.

“They can travel to Europe and compete among the best dance teams in the world.”

Fisher said the girls qualified to represent South Africa in a provincial hip hop competition, after receiving their Western Cape colors earlier this year.

Royal Rebels Crew member Zoe Fisher said she was more than proud to represent her country and community on an international platform.

“There is a lot of pressure to do well because our families and communities have invested so much in our work.

“We want to make the community behind us very proud and we are very grateful for the love and support we have received over the past few weeks.”

Fisher said she was pleasantly surprised that dancing could take her this far and give her such a prestigious opportunity. She added that in preparation for the championships, the group now rehearses for three hours, three days a week with daily fitness routines.
