An additional pre-show lecture and workshop with members of the dance company will be free and open to the public.
The Nrityagram Dance Ensemble will perform on Sunday October 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall.
Considered worldwide as one of Asia’s leading traditional dance companies, the famous ensemble creates and communicates powerful images and captivating movements through classical Indian dance, known as Odissi, and music. live.
The company’s return to the United States includes two dynamic pieces: âDaÅavatÄrâ, based on the poem on the ten incarnations of the Hindu god Vishnu, as well as a new work in collaboration with the Chitrasena Dance Company of Sri Lanka, in which the two groups explore the intersection of Odissi and Kandyan dance techniques.
A pre-performance conference will be held in the Ramsey Concert Hall at 2.15pm with free admission.
Those interested in learning more about this unique art form are invited to attend an Odissi dance workshop with company members on Monday, October 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Hodgson Concert Hall. Admission is free and open to the public, and paid parking is available on the deck of the Performing Arts Center.
