Sweet Disasters Dance Crew wins festival honors
POLOKWANE – The best of the best dancers in Limpopo competed in the latest Dance Tribe Festival 2022 championship.
This year marked the fourth annual Dancing Tribes Festival which was held at the Polokwane Library Gardens Auditorium.
The festival is a family fair held in Polokwane to celebrate and embrace the different types of street dance such as pantsula, rubber boots, hip hop, bujwa and house, as well as to develop the arts industry and dance as a career.

It was organized by Mega Artists Media and was judged by Monnica Mathebe, William Kgatle and Danny Modiba and featured performance highlights and an awards ceremony.
The dance numbers who qualified in the auditions conducted at the main show and a total of 10 performers were part of the dance festival.
The festival was inspired by a lack of platforms and support for dancers in the province, as many locals are of the view that Limpopo does not have a platform where dancers can showcase their talents and that ‘It wasn’t just about winning, but also about nurturing dancers to be more competitive and exposing them to wider audiences and opportunities.
The festival champions in the dance group category were Sweet Disasters Dance Crew, consisting of Elias Matla, Jack Sekokotla and Prince Pilusa of Ga-Mothapo.
They won the title trophy and R3,000 cash. The first runners-up in this category were the Peace Makers who walked away with R2,000 in cash and a trophy and the second runners-up were the Vintage Gurus, who won a trophy and R1,000. The winner in the solo category was ZayTheGreat, who won earned R1,000.
