Penn State Altoona Ivyside Dance Ensemble to Host 10th Anniversary Performance

ALTOONA, PA – The Penn State Altoona Ivyside Dance Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. on April 5 and 6 at the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are $ 5 for Penn State Altoona students and $ 7 for general admission. Children under 12 are free.

Nine former dancers will return to Penn State Altoona for a pair of choreographed works by KT Huckabee, Associate Professor of Integrative Arts. In “Patsy”, a dance suite to the music of Patsy Cline, alumni Josh Barr, Danielle Johnson and Cassandra Lewis will dance the solos they first performed in 2012. They will be joined by new soloists Alyse LaCava and Laura Oswald to stage this comic repertoire piece. Additionally, alumni Catherine Averill, Samantha Bacza, Tori Long and Sheriece Veazey will dance in Huckabee’s latest creation, “Muted,” a work starring herself and fellow faculty member Tingting Zhou.

Zhou brings his expertise in dance technology to the stage in “Imaginary Encounter”. Together with Technical Director Maurice “Mo” Stroemel, Zhou choreographed the dance to include a live camera and manipulated projections.

Ensemble director Caitlin Osborne will stage two repertory works in what will be her last concert with the ensemble. “I’m so happy to see this group of dancers, who represent a big part of my 12 years as a director, on stage together,” she said. “I picked those two dances so I could watch them one last time before I left Penn State. I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome our alumni on stage.

Tickets can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the box office and before and during all performances. For more information, call the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 814-949-5452.
