Egyptian heritage dance troupe Al-Tanoura participates in international festival in Uzbekistan

The opening ceremony of the International Lazgi Dance Festival was held in the square near the Kunya-Ark citadel of the famous Itchan Kala complex in the old town of Khiva, Uzbekistan.

The festival will last until April 30.

Large-scale preparations have been made for the festival in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. Experienced directors, composers, artists, famous dancers, skilled creators from Uzbekistan are involved in its organization.

Exhibitions devoted to the art of dance, demonstrations of national costumes, handicrafts, works of art and applied arts and sculptures are held in the Itchan Kala complex. A book fair will also take place.

More than 175 masters of the art of dance, professional dance groups, art specialists, well-known representatives of the cultural sphere and media professionals from 30 countries, including Egypt, participate in the festival .

Egypt is represented at the festival by the Ministry of Culture’s Tanoura dance troupe.

The competition is judged by a jury composed of 6 experienced professional specialists. 13 art scholars from 11 countries arrived in Khiva to attend the International Scientific and Practical Conference.

Representatives of different nationalities and peoples perform national songs, melodies and dances. The “Lazgi” dance performed by famous artists calls everyone to dance.

As it was reported, within the framework of the festival, an international scientific and practical conference will be held on “The place of Uzbek national dance in the world art of dance”. It will bring together masters of the art of dance, musicologists and art historians, famous artists, leading experts and honored guests from foreign countries.

In 2019, the Khorezm Lazgi dance was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO as an element of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
